The Leadership and Community Development (LCD) programme support students in public secondary schools in rural communities, with essential academic, leadership and life skills required to cope with life’s challenges and become agents of positive community development. It will also equip these students with the right qualities to be effective promoters of good leadership and community service.
The Goal of the LCD project is to raise responsible young leaders who are equipped, inspired and rightly educated to lead themselves and inspire change in their communities
The objectives of LCD include:
To develop the capacity of students on self-leadership and community leadership
To increase the capacity of students on academic excellence and career planning decisions
To inspire students to imbibe and practice community service as part of leadership education by engaging in community service projects
To build teachers and corps members capacity to provide leadership education and direction to students.
The LCD Programme engages passionate, committed and willing NYSC individuals as Programme Volunteers who deploy the LCD curriculum to selected students in their school of primary place of assignment with the permission of the school principal and the assistance of a Teacher.
