The Shuttleworth Foundation offers fellowships to individuals to support them in implementing their ideas for social change over the course of a year. The foundation is particularly interested in ideas at the intersection between openness, technology, knowledge, and learning—ideas that would enhance access to global knowledge and social and economic development.
Each fellowship provides for generous financial support, equivalent to a full year’s salary based on a fellow’s qualifications, experiences, and comparable cost of time for their skill level. In addition, each fellow will have access to potential project funding from the foundation, which will match a fellow’s personal project investment by at least tenfold. The foundation also provides technological and legal support throughout each project’s development, as well as connections to its network of projects, funders, and institutions.

ELIGIBILITY:
Anyone can apply to become a Shuttleworth Fellow. For instance;
- You do not have to have any specific level of education, or you could have a Ph.D.
- You do not have to have years of experience in the workplace or be an up and coming millennial.
- Also, you do not have to be from any specific geography or nationality, you should just be able to communicate fluently in English.
- You do not have to have an organisation, but you can if you want to, and it can be for or not for profit.
- You do not have to be of any specific gender.
- Then, you do not even have to be building software.

Do
- A completed application comprises:
- The (completed & submitted) application form.
- Your 5-minute application video (public or private).
- Your up to date resume.
Don’t
- The organisation does not accept any of the following:
- Hard copy applications.
- Partial applications – you must answer all the questions and “submit” the form.
- Email applications.
