We successfully launched our Training-of-Trainers Workshop in May, heralding the beginning of the 2024 Leadership and Community Development Mentoring Programme Cycle. We were delighted to welcome 40 mentors, six of whom were returning mentors, ensuring a dynamic mix of new insights and seasoned experience. The comprehensive three-day workshop saw the participation of mentors and counsellors across five Local Government Areas: Bekwara, Obanliku, Obudu, Calabar South, and Calabar Municipality.
Our Founder, His Excellency, Senator Liyel Imoke, set an inspiring tone for the workshop with his virtual opening remarks. We were equally excited to incorporate the perspectives of international mentors from Kenya, South Africa and Uganda, who added a rich layer of diversity to the programme.
The workshop featured sessions by esteemed facilitators. On the first day, Mr. Balantine Richard conducted sessions on “Raising Young Leaders,” “Addressing Community Problems,” and “Emotional Intelligence in Mentoring Adolescents.” The second day included a virtual session by Elvis Boniface on “Artificial Intelligence in Mentoring,” followed by Mrs Grace Ibor’s session on “The Multifaceted Responsibilities of a Mentor,” emphasizing inclusivity for adolescents with disabilities.
On the final day, Mr. Ndifreke Patrick led sessions on “Visioning, Goal Setting, and Accountability,” “Personal Development,” “Growth Mindset and Resilience,” and “Effective Communication,” with a focus on engaging adolescents with special needs.
With over 50 participants each day, the workshop demonstrated high engagement and commitment. The Training-of-Trainers Workshop concluded with mentors and teachers deeply immersed in the programme, ready to inspire the next generation of leaders in their communities.
We are excited about the journey ahead and look forward to the transformative impact our mentors will have.
This year’s Leadership and Community Development Mentoring Programme is supported by ACT Foundation.
