The Leadership and Community Development (LCD) Mentoring Programme recorded significant progress across Akwa Ibom and Cross River States within the reporting period.
In Akwa Ibom State, the programme was successfully implemented in selected public secondary schools across the Uyo metropolis, with official endorsement from the State Ministry of Education. Advocacy and courtesy visits to key education stakeholders and school leadership ensured alignment and seamless execution.
The LCD tour in Uyo engaged a total of 2,021 students across several public schools alongside teachers, counselors, corps members, and school administrators. To support effective delivery, each school was assigned dedicated mentors who facilitated interactive sessions focused on leadership, academic growth, and life skills. The engagements recorded strong participation and enthusiasm from both students and stakeholders.
In Cross River State, the programme advanced through the implementation of Community Action Projects (CAPs), with mentees translating their learning into tangible community impact. Projects focused on key areas including health and well-being, drug abuse awareness, environmental sanitation, and quality education. Participating schools also initiated Leadership Clubs to sustain engagement.
Overall, the programme continues to foster teamwork, responsibility, and leadership among students, reinforcing its goal of raising a new generation of proactive and community-driven young leaders.
