The Foundation undertook a week-long activity from February 6 – 10, 2023, targeted at the payment of school fees for selected students who have demonstrated outstanding qualities in leadership, academic performance and community development, across 7 Local Government areas. A total of 50 students under the Leadership and Community Development Mentoring Programme (LCDMP) benefitted from the scheme to support their educational commitment and transition, drive passion for hard work and enthusiasm among students as well as reduce the burden on their parents.
The Leadership and Community Development Mentoring Programme has been implemented across 30 schools in Calabar South, Calabar Municipality, Ikom, Obubra, Etung, Boki-West and Boki-East Local Government Areas.
The 50 students consist of 15 males and 35 female students who were selected after they passed the evaluation criteria such as performance in essay writing, public speaking, leadership quality, commitment to community projects, and punctuality amongst others.
Interestingly, some parents of the Awardee showed up at the time of payment to the schools. At the same time, a great number of them used other mediums to communicate their profound gratitude to the Foundation.
Here are some amazing messages directly from parents/guardians of Mentees;
“I really appreciate the effort of TBLF in affecting the lives of young people. Thank you and God bless you! – By Esmiralda’s Mum”.
“I am Mr Wilson, a parent to Okereke Obianuju Wilson who is a beneficiary of The Bridge Leadership Foundation Mentoring Programme at Government Girls Secondary School, Big Qua Town. I write to inform you about the tremendous change this Foundation has imparted to my child’s life. It helped build my child’s confidence and self-esteem. She is working towards the goals she set. It has also helped her to be independent, she does not need someone to tell her to go out and work, read or do other duties of hers. Sincerely, I thank the Foundation for its wonderful to impart in my child’s life through its programme. God bless!”
“I want to say a big thank you to The Bridge Leadership Foundation. Your Programme has impacted a lot in my daughter’s life, Josephine Bernard in Government Secondary School, Anantigha. At first, she had an issue in choosing her career, but with the help of this programme, she has been able to make the right decision and choose the right career. She has also improved herself in terms of being bold to address the public”.
For us at the Foundation, one of our most remarkable outcomes is the fact that our Programme Mentees currently occupy one leadership position or the other in all 15 schools in Calabar, ranging from the post of the Senior School Prefect, Assistant School Prefect, Sanitary Prefect, Chapel Prefect, etc. This serves as our motivation and the oil that greases us to keep making a generational impact.
The Foundation’s mission is to inspire, equip and raise generations of transformational leaders by providing platforms for personal, career and community development.
