The Foundation started the year with a round of school fees payment for scholarship beneficiaries who had the most outstanding performances at the 2021 Transformational Mentoring Programme, which was held within Calabar South and Municipal Local Government Areas of Cross River State. The payment covered for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Term fees of beneficiaries who are yet to sort out the previous and current term Fees of their current classes, while those in certificate classes had their WAEC/NECO /NAPTIP registration paid for.
Based on the overall outcomes, a total of 5 Mentees (students) under the 2020 scholarship Award had their fees completely cleared; another total of 19 Awardees under the 2021 set of Awardees had their three terms fees paid and out of the same number, 8 had their fees completely cleared while the others had some outstanding balance – this will be used to pay off fees in their next class. Finally, 12 Mentees out of the entire 24 students whose fees were paid had their WAEC/NECO/NAPTIP Examinations registered as well.
Going by the words of Kofi Annan, “…Education is the premise of progress in every society, in every family”. It is in the light of this that the scholarship Awardees were further inspired to take learning more seriously, as this opens them up to a brighter tomorrow. For us as a Foundation, educating the young people is the best form of empowerment a nation can offer to achieve positive transformation.
