September was a month of connection and inspiration for the Leadership and Community Development Mentoring Programme, funded by ACT Foundation.
Our team began school check-in visits across several LCD schools including Government Secondary School Nyagasang, Government Secondary School Adiabo Tinapa in Odukpani, UBEC Model Vocational Secondary School in Akpabuyo, Margaret Ekpo Secondary School, Government Secondary School Akim, West African People’s Institute, Government Secondary School Ikang Central, and Government Secondary School Barracks Road. These visits helped ensure that mentorship continues long after onboarding and took us right into the heart of student life, from morning assemblies to break times. Each one was a reminder that leadership is a daily practice, not just a subject to be taught.
What began as routine monitoring soon became moments of transformation. Some of our trained mentees stood before their peers to share personal stories of resilience, growth and how mentorship has reshaped their lives. Their words inspired others and sparked powerful conversations about leadership, service and responsibility. Many students were motivated to embrace excellence and believe more strongly in their potential.
By the end of September, over 1,000 students had been directly reached, each one touched by the message that leadership begins with small steps of discipline and character.
These moments continue to reaffirm our vision: to raise generations of responsible, confident and transformational leaders who will not only dream of change but actively create it in their schools, communities and beyond.
