2023 LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TOUR

The one-week leadership tour in Ogoja, Yala, Bekwera, Calabar Municipality, and Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State was an incredible experience for both the Foundation’s Team and the participating students. Led by Martha, the Programme Officer, the first session focused on leadership, encouraging participants to share their knowledge through group work and presentations. Akpan, a programme Mentor, then discussed the responsibilities and qualities of exceptional leaders. Joshua, the Programme Coordinator, facilitated similar sessions in other communities.

The tour also included sessions on goal setting, led by Rosemond, the Programme Manager, and career planning, anchored by Aruk, who provided valuable online resources. Victoria facilitated the final session on self-esteem, sharing strategies for students to value themselves. The students were inspired to cultivate healthy behaviors and committed to sharing their knowledge with their peers in their respective schools.

The tour achieved tremendous success in terms of attendance. Yala had 131 participants, Bekwera had 98, Ogoja had 161 educators, Calabar Municipality had 117, and Calabar South had 68 teachers. Overall, a total of 575 students attended, accompanied by a few Education Secretaries.
