TBLF PARTNERS INEC ON VOTER EDUCATION

The Bridge Leadership Foundation (TBLF), a frontline youth and leadership development organization in Cross River State, has extended its hands of collaboration to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This is inline with the Foundation’s 2018 strategy to create robust and far-reaching impact through strategic partnership. TBLF was set up in 2011 with the mandate of raising generations of transformational leaders.

This collaboration will focus majorly on voter education, awareness creation and spread of information as regards the electoral process and electioneering in Nigeria.

This collaboration is timely as the 2019 general election in Nigeria is fast approaching and there is the need for the public to be sensitized on the electoral processes – how to register, when the registration closes, what they need for registration, how to vote, what needs to be done prior to voting, what to watch out for at polling units etc.

The collaboration was discussed when the leadership of both of organizations led by Dr. Frankland Briyai, INEC REC in Cross River State and Uchenna Achunine, Executive Secretary of TBLF met in Calabar recently.

In July 2018, TBLF organized the 8th Career Day, a youth conference themed: Youth and Good Governance: The Future We Want. The conference which had more than 5,000 youth participants, featured many notable speakers including Dr. Frankland Briyai, who took time to educate the teaming youth on how to increase active and inclusive participation in politics and development processes

Recently, there has been widespread clamour to build an enlightened and engaged citizenry that will be actively and strategically involved in politics, electioneering process and good governance. Disseminating the information on how to elect good leaders is therefore crucial at this time.

In view of this, The Bridge Leadership Foundation has created a voter education and enlightenment desk at the Foundation’s Secretariat, where the general public could easily access information on election and electioneering. Documents with relevant information from INEC and other partners like Enough is Enough (EIE) are available. A Desk Officer is on ground to provide answers to all necessary questions you may have.
