Vocational Skill Programme – Sponsored by Lafarge-Holcim

Monitoring by the LAFARGE Team, led by Brenda Effiom and TBLF Team led by Martha Lawrence was carried out through a visit to the training Centre on Friday, August 26, 2022. The aspects of assessment include spot checks on the trainees actively engaged in learning, taking note of beneficiaries’ weekly attendance and level of seriousness of, collection of feedback from beneficiaries and verification of the weekly schedule of training per Centre.

In the same vein, routine monitoring was also conducted by The Bridge Leadership Foundation team prior to the payment of the beneficiaries’ monthly stipend, on the 31st of August, 2022. In the course of the visit, valuable feedback was tracked from both the trainers and their trainees, respectively. Trainers shared the various levels of seriousness and performance of individual beneficiaries, especially with the aid of the finished products of their trainees. Likewise, beneficiaries on their part revealed how well they are able to relate with their respective trainers, how much they have been taught, areas where they need to carry out individual practicals, learning materials/tools needed for the next phase and also, the challenges some are facing.

Within the reporting month, the programme has recorded progressive success. Beneficiaries learning Heavy Duty Mechanic are already being engaged in field jobs and assigned sensitive tasks; those in shoe and bag making are beginning to use footwears made by them; those in branding are confirmed to be well vast in the use of the first stage design software and therefore pressing for the next phase; while those in ICT were confirmed to have completed learning and practical sessions on HTML.
